Oh No!

Not Worth The Hype

If you're somebody who collects makeup, is in the industry or just simply likes to read up on makeup reviews, then I think most of you can relate to this post.

I have a passion for makeup and everyday I'm searching the internet for "What's Hot" or "Whats the most popular products at the moment".
I always give in on whats the most popular products and buy them, because I like to try out new products and also everybody makes a huge hype about them.

I have collected a few items which for me weren't worth the big hype. in saying that, these products might have worked amazingly for you, but for me personally they didn't.
Also, this doesn't mean that I hate these brands, I still love them, I just didn't love these particular products.

Firstly, I will speak about a few high-end products that just didn't do it for me.

The first product is the NARS Kabuki Ita brush. i had seen so many people rave about this brush on social media, beauty pages and especially Youtube. I kept telling myself "don't buy it", because I cant justify paying $74 on a brush. But no, sadly I gave in and bought the brush.

My first impressions on the brush were that I loved the look of it. Im obsessed with anything Matte, so that caught my eye. It looks very sleek and stunning to have in your collection. I also liked how the brush was so straight, so you could achieve that perfect contour line.

I then tested the brush on my face and was disappointed. It was a lot harder to blend out then I though and I had so many little bristles left on my face from the brush. I didn't want to completely hate it on the first try, so I continued using it day by day and also washed it.

To this day I'm still not a fan and it still leaves bristles on my face. i could have saved $74 and bought a cheaper brush that does the exact same thing. I think I'm just disappointed because it was so expensive, so my expectation were really high.

Another NARS product I will be talking about is the Radiant Creamy Concealer in the shade "Vanilla". I don't hate this product, I just don't think it's amazing. This was another raved about product that I had to try. Watching YouTubers use this made me fall in love with it. It looked amazing on camera, especially for that under eye highlight which i wanted it for.

I was so excited when i got it, that I put it on as soon as I got home. my excitement went from a strong 10 to a low 4.
It looked nothing like what I had seen on others, and there was hardly a highlight. I might go buy the shade "Chantilly" which may work better on me for a highlight.

Like I said, i don't hate this product and I'll still use it from time to time, but it wasn't what I expected. I think the price is great though, for a high-end concealer $35 is amazing.

The last NARS product I will be talking about is a blush in the shade "Orgasm". When I first heard people talking about this product I didn't know what to think. I had no idea that the blush name was what it was, so I just had to see what all the fuss was about.

I watched youtube videos of "Favourites" and this blush was in the majority of them. Plus reading people on beauty pages saying its their holy grail etc etc. I ended up purchasing a duo which has "Hungry Heart" and "Orgasm".

Hungry Heart is a highlighter which has more of a gold shimmer shade. There's nothing wrong with this highlighter at all, its the blush I'm not a fan of.
"Orgasm" is a dark pink blush with lots of gold shimmer in it, I actually had no idea about the gold until I had it in my hands.

Im sure lots of people love this blush and I'm sure it looks great on their skin, but personally i hate shimmery blushes. When using face products, I'm more of a matte girl for sure, with the simple highlight on the cheek bones of course. But shimmery blushes I can't stand!
I know its my own fault and I should of read a lot more about the product, but we all learn from our mistakes... well most of the time.

The last high-end product is the Stilla One Step Correct.
I get a lot of redness around my nose and cheeks and heard that this is great for redness, so I went and bought it. Im not sure why, but when I bought it I thought it was a thick consistency when actually its quite runny. When I used it, it covered my redness slightly, but didn't make it disappear.
I didn't really notice any difference with my makeup on top of this either.

I probably have a half of it left, so I will continue using this product on myself and friends, but I don't think I'll be re-purchasing this product again.

Stilla One Step Correct.

Here is part one of the products I regret buying. This is the high-end post, the next post will be drug store items.
Please leave me a comment if you feel the same way about any of these products.
Once again, no hate please.

MAC Lipsticks

MAC Lipstick Collection

Hey everybody! Today I thought I'd show you my MAC lipstick collection. So far I only have 10 but I can't why to buy more. MAC lipsticks by far are my favourite lipsticks. I love the colour range they have and all the different finishes each one has. Although my favourite lipstick finishes are Matte, or anything close to it. Im defiantly not a fan of frosty or glossy lips.
I also have two Velvet Teddy lipsticks, and I said to myself I wouldn't use the new one until I had finished the old one. But we all know that never happens...

Down bellow is a list of the lipsticks I have and what their finishes are.
Velvet Teddy = Matte
Faux = Satin
Pink Plaid = Matte
Please Me = Matte
Candy Yum Yum = Matte
Heroine = Matte
Smoked Purple = Matte
Vegas Volt = Amplified
Ruby Woo = Matte

Lipsticks are in the same order as above

Lipstick swatches are in the same order as above
If you would like to see what they look like on my lips, leave a comment and I'll do another blog post for you with them on.
Also if anyone suggests a colour that I should buy, please let me know. Preferably with the finishes above.

Books

I've been wanting to get a journal / note book for my beauty room for a while now. Today I went shopping and found the perfect two! I first went to Typo which sells a lot of stationary stuff, and straight away a note book caught my eye. It is a silver sparkly note book! The sparkles got me straight away and I just had to buy it. The book is an A4 size and it was $20.

I continued my shopping and came across a store I had never heard of before, Kikki k. From the outside it was perfect. It was so bright inside and everything was set out so lovely. I couldn't resist, even though I had just bought a book, I had to go have a look inside. I then found the second book which is more of a journal lay out. It even has little tabs inside of it. Its baby pink with a lilac spine and a gold diamond on the front cover. This journal is smaller then the other one I purchased so I kind of had to get it, and it was $17.

I bought these books because I think it'll help me a lot with ideas. I'll be writing down tips/ideas for makeup, fashion, blog subject ideas and everything and anything beauty related. They also look really cute on my beauty desk next to my candles and decor.

About A Girl ❤

About A Girl
Hey everyone! Considering this is my first post, I thought I'd do some Questions and Answers so you can get to know me a bit better.
If you would like to know anything else just ask!

Name:
Sharnna Marie Canfora
Nickname:
Sharnnie
Gender:
Female
Age:
20
Birthday:
28/11/1994
Live:
Perth WA
Star Sign:
 Sagittarius

Occupation:
I graduated year 12 in school and had no idea as to what I wanted to do/be. I decided to go to Tafe and do my cert 3 in Beauty Therapy and also cert 3 in Makeup and Skin care. I graduated and passed in all units and I loved it! As soon as I started the coarse I fell in love. I then waited a year trying to get a job but just didn't have enough experience for a beauty job as the coarse only went for six months.
I then chose to go to The Australian College Of Beauty Therapy to study my Full Diploma in Beauty Therapy. Wow what an experience. It was a lot harder then I expected and some days I just wanted to give up. It was a year and by the end there were only about 15 girls left. I pushed through and graduated and I was so proud of myself. I currently work at David Jones in the Fragrance department but my passion and dream is to be working with makeup. All day I just sit in my room practising makeup and trying new products and looks. My next goal is to do a Makeup coarse with MAC Cosmetics and be a makeup artist.

Relationship:
I have a boyfriend and we have been together for just over four and a half years. We make 5 years in June this year. I will do a boyfriend tag post sometime soon.

Hair colour:
I have had so many different hair colours! I have been dirty blonde, bleach blonde, blonde streaks, dark plum, black, dark brown, magenta, fire hydrant red, red with purple ends...And now its purple all over!! A lot of people ask how the heck my hair is still alive. When I was at my blonde stage it was very dry and dead and only just above my shoulders. I use to wear extensions all the time. After that, I went brown and stayed that colour for a while so my hair got healthy again. My hair is so long now and I never want it to change! Although I'm sure I'll change the colour again. :P

Eye colour:
I have hazel eyes, although some days they are really green, other days they could be yellow.

Braces:
Ive had a lot done to my teeth in the past couple of years. I started with a wire above my teeth which I had to twist each day, followed by a few teeth being pulled out to make room. This was to help separate my over lapping teeth. I then had braces put on, but that still wasn't enough. During the process of having braces (for four years),I had to have a jaw surgery which was to move my bottom jaw forward. I now have metal plates in my jaw and chin. If you didn't know the story, you wouldn't of even known I had the surgery. There aren't any visible changes on the outside until you look at before and after photos! It was a long road of being uncomfortable but all worth it in the end.

Piercings:

At the moment I only have my ears pierced just once on either side, and my belly button. I use to have my nose pierced but a trainee did it and it got really infected and would just never heal. I think I might get it done again later on, but I really want a nipple piercing next!

Tattoos:
I currently have seven tattoos. Feet, thighs, rib, neck and finger. They are so addicting and I live getting ink done! I can't wait to get more. I will be doing a separate tattoo post soon to show you what they all look like and talk about pain etc.

I can't wait to get to know everyone on here. I would love for you all to leave me ideas on blog posts, or any reviews you would like me to do. I plan on posting twice a week, and all will be Beauty, Skin, Hair and Fashion related.
